Two Ways to Find Out Where Your Cooling System Stands

Water Line Repair in Colorado Springs

24/7 Water Line Repair from One In-House Home Service Team

A water service line is the underground pipe that carries clean water from the utility connection to your home. Unlike a sewer line, which carries wastewater away, this line supplies the water you use every day. A break can waste water, damage your yard or foundation, and disrupt your entire household.

We repair leaking and broken service lines throughout Colorado Springs. Our trained and certified plumbing technicians diagnose the problem and explain their findings before work begins. Because One Source Home Service also provides plumbing, heating, cooling, and electrical services, you won’t have to coordinate multiple home service companies if the job uncovers related work.

Don’t wait for a suspected underground leak to worsen. Call (719) 266-2805 for help from our 24/7 plumbing team.

Warning Signs of a Damaged Water Service Line

Some service line failures release water underground without causing an obvious indoor leak. Your yard, water pressure, meter reading, or water quality may provide the first warning.

Watch for these possible signs:

  • Soggy areas: Puddles, soft soil, or unusually green patches that remain during dry weather.
  • Low water pressure: A sudden or gradual pressure drop affecting several fixtures.
  • Discolored water: Muddy, brown, or rusty water coming from the taps.
  • Higher water bills: An unexplained increase without a change in normal household use.
  • Running water sounds: Water movement when faucets, toilets, and appliances aren’t operating.

You can perform a basic water meter leak test by turning off every water-using fixture and appliance, recording the meter reading, and checking it again about an hour later. If the reading changes, water is still moving through the system. A plumber can determine whether the leak is in the service line or elsewhere.

Who Is Responsible for the Private Water Line?

Colorado Springs Utilities maintains its infrastructure up to the connection point on your property. Beyond that point, the private line serving the house is generally the property owner’s responsibility, including damage caused by leaks on the customer side.

Contact the utility if the problem appears to be on the public side of the water main connection. For a leak between the connection point and your house, call our plumbing team. Before excavation begins, call 811 at least three days in advance so underground utilities can be located and marked.

How We Diagnose & Repair Water Line Damage

We start by locating the leak and assessing the extent of the damage, using minimally invasive techniques when appropriate. Our technicians explain what they find, answer your questions, and compare the available options before starting work.

A service call can include:

  • Locating the problem: We identify the likely source and damaged portion of the pipe.
  • Comparing solutions: We consider the pipe’s location, depth, material, age, and overall condition.
  • Completing and testing the work: We follow applicable plumbing codes, protect nearby flooring and fixtures when work enters the home, and test the finished repair.

An isolated break may require a targeted fix rather than replacement of the entire service line. If the pipe has widespread corrosion or a history of repeated leaks, we’ll explain whether broader replacement or repiping may be the more practical choice.

What to Do When a Water Line Breaks

For a major leak, turn off the home’s main water supply valve if you can reach it safely. The valve is often in a basement, garage, or utility closet. If you aren’t sure where to find it, we can help you locate it over the phone.

Take these steps immediately:

  • Shut off the main water supply.
  • Keep people away from standing water and unstable, saturated ground.
  • Call our 24/7 emergency plumbing team.

Even a smaller leak requires prompt attention. Escaping water can reach floors, walls, framing, foundations, or landscaping, and the damage can spread while the line remains under pressure.
